We started Living Wages sixteen years ago not knowing what the future would bring. We knew that education is critical to anyone’s success.

      

At Living Wages, we:

•  believe in the concept of lifelong learning as a means of  enabling people to contribute to and participate    personally,socially, economically and collectively in the development of society

• affirm and support the key role of adult and community education in promoting equality, social inclusion and active citizenship

• ​promote a just wage that ensures an existence worthy of human dignity

• ​commit to the development and sustainability of quality adult and community education services in Washington, D.C.

Since 1998 more than 400 adults in Southeast Washington DC have obtained their high school diploma through Living Wages Adult Education Programs and moved on to employment, university studies and training programs.
